The Charlotte Bobcats are very fortunate to have one of basketball’s most renown athletes, Emeka Okafor. Okafor attended Ballaire High School, and his tremendous efforts that he demonstrated throughout his high school basketball career would earn him a spot on the University of Connecticut roster. What many do not know about Okafor is that aside from his sensational skills on the basketball court, he served as an honors student throughout most of his college tenure.

Emeka Okafor primarily played center and power forward. His numbers in the post were solid, both defensively and offensively. As one of the University of Connecticut’s finest athletes, Okafor would go on to become the Huskies all-time leader in blocked shots with 441. This feat was aside from the numerous NCAA honors that he received. During his last year of college basketball, he was named Big East Player of the Year, a tremendous accomplishment. The NCAA coaches also realized his defensive presence down low when they awarded him with the National Defensive Player of the Year award. It soon became eminent that Emeka Okafor was deserving of a spot on a professional basketball roster.
